Music plays a big part in my writing process. If I'm sitting at my laptop, I almost always have my ear-buds in. I know what you're thinking though-- Every time I see a novel's playlist, I always think How in the world do these songs relate to the novel? This isn't what I pictured while reading at all! But that's what's so great about books-- we all bring our own experienced to the mix. However, I'm going to share my inspirations anyway. Here are the songs that influenced and inspired me while writing The Apple Tree:

Three Wishes by The Pierces
I call this Bianca's theme song because it just seems to fit her. Not necessarily the lyrics, but the tone and melody feels like her.

All I Know by Free Energy
This is Levi's theme song because the signer's voice sounds exactly like what I image Levi's voice to sound like and although it's a pretty modern song, it feels like Levi to me. Not brooding Levi, but a happy Levi, when he's at his best.

Apologize by One Republic
If the last song was happy Levi- this one is sad Levi. This song represents, to me, Levi trying to apologize for spying on Bianca and making little headway with her.

Stay- Cover of Rihanna's song by Macy Maloy and Tim Halperin
This is Peter's song. I listened to this whenever there was a scene of him remembering Clara. The beat in the background of this song has such a desperate quality- it feels just like the overwhelming grief and need that Peter carried around with him. I prefer this version of this song rather than Rihanna's version.

Wanted by Hunter Hayes
This song feels like Levi, trying to win over Bianca. When he offers her a ride and bring her the cold-frame.

Barefoot Blue Jean Night by Jake Owen
This is the song that Levi puts on when their drunk and dancing on the table

[Kissed You] Good Night by Gloriana
This song directly inspired Levi and Bianca's first kiss. I've always loved the scene this song describes and I knew it fit Levi's personality perfectly to do something like this.
Kiss Me by Ed Sheeran
The morning after the wedding when Bianca and Levi are cuddling and being playful in bed.
